Mother’s Day Gift Spending to Slip…
April 23rd, 2008Mother’s Day Gift Spending to Slip – according to ONE survey!
An article on cnn.com suggests that Mother’s Day spending will slip this year due to the economic issues facing North America, primarily the good ol’ USA. With the housing market tailspin and fuel costs skyrocketing out of control, people are looking to ‘trim the fat’. Forget about latte’s or cable tv bills with every channel nobody watches, MOM is expected to suffer!
Depending on your mother, some people couldn’t spend enough to make Her happy while others could forget the event altogether and phone a week later and still make Her the happiest Mom alive.
The important thing to remember when spending on Mom is that it HAS to be personal, not expensive. Sometimes, ‘personal’ could become expensive. If Mom worked hard all her life and never had a chance to visit a special place in the world and you have the opportunity to send her, then go for it! For a Mom who has everything but wants for nothing, sometimes a card with a photo of all her grandchildren in one place is inexpensive but incredibly personal and cherished.
The variety of designs offered online as Mother’s Day gifts hopefully have something special to offer. Whether it’s the Mother’s Day Margarita Island basket that will remind her of the best vacation she ever had or the inexpensive Annika golf gift for Mom that is perfectly suited to her retirement lifestyle (golf every week!), it’s important to remember that it MUST be personal, not necessarily expensive!
